About Me

My work hinges on formation and practice. At the intersection of faith, justice and emotional health, I believe it is essential to pursue shalom in deep community and develop others to do the same.

LEAD | Out of that commitment to deep practice and formation, I am a Senior Associate for AROCHA USA and Lead for Partnerships in the Northeast where we live out God’s call to care for creation and teach others to do likewise. I also co-founded the Center for Beauty and Resistance which exists to nurture whole people and fruitful communities. Additionally, I am the network co-leader for CCDA in the Northeast Corridor and work with InnoFaith, Chasing Justice, the Wild Fig Network and others to receive and reflect the kingdom of God.

WRITE | Daily, I write THE CRUX on Substack and created the Emotionally Healthy Activist Course and podcast. My six books include Beauty and Resistance: Spiritual Rhythms for Formation and Repair and "Twelve Lies that Hold America Captive" along with an anthology on faith and politics and three books of poetry.

SPEAK | As a keynote, seminar or conference speaker, I help diverse audiences deepen self and collective awareness, grasp and address root causes, and leave equipped to pursue justice, foster connection, and take meaningful action in their communities.

TEACH | Complex issues like political division, climate change, racism, and cultural competency need accessible learning experiences. Through storytelling, frameworks, and interactive dialogue, I empower diverse learners to understand context, build critical awareness, and apply insight toward personal growth, collective responsibility, and transformative action in everyday life.

FACILITATE | With clarity, empathy, and theological depth, I help communities wrestle with truth, pursue justice, and move toward collective understanding, growth, and meaningful, sustained transformation together.

EDUCATION AND BACKGROUND: I have a degree in Creative Writing from Columbia University, an MA from the City University in New York in the Study of the Americas, and a certificate in Faith, Innovation and Social Impact from NYU.

For over 20 years, I have developed resources for political discipleship, faithful civic engagement, whole life stewardship, and professional development for audiences of all ages and a variety of contexts in faith and non-faith based contexts.

I live in Queens with my wife, two daughters, and our dog Snow Bear. And I appreciate opportunities to share with those desiring to cross the bridge between the haves and have nots in spiritual and material resources the way that Jesus did.
