Five years after the murder of George Floyd, the call for racial justice remains urgent—and the role of the university and the Bible in that work has never been more contested. This forum brings together scholars and faith leaders to reflect on the ongoing intersections of race, justice, the Christian Faith, and higher education.
This session will feature a panel with Dr. Jonathan Tran & Dr. Reggie Williams, leading scholars who will share insights into how theology and sociology speak to the systemic realities that came into stark view in 2020—and what justice requires of us today on campus. Dr. Jeff Liou and Thurston Benns, M. Div. will moderate and offer pastoral reflections on how the Church and InterVarsity has responded and what we must do to remain faithful to Christ’s call in an age of protest, polarization, and possibility. The forum will close with a robust Q&A session facilitated by the moderators.
